Julia Heim (she/they) received her PhD in Comparative Literature from the CUNY Graduate Center. A scholar who focuses on LGBTQIA+ representation in contemporary Italian media, she has published or is co-author of the recent articles “Italian LGBTQ representation in Transnational TV, ” “Queer Italian Studies: Critical Reflections from the Field,” and “Why LGBTQIA+ Inclusivity Matters for Italian Studies.” They are currently following up their last co-edited volume Queering Italian Media (Lexington, 2020) with a new co-edited edition about Queer Italian American Media entitled Spaghetti Sissies (Palgrave, forthcoming). In addition to her research Dr. Heim is an active Italian-English translator of theater, art criticism, queer theory, and the children's book series Geronimo Stilton; forthcoming works include the co-translated Italian transfeminist collection Digital Fissures (Brill publishing, 2022) and the one-act play Meet My Dad.
