Jonathan Galassi and Fabio Finotti present Italian author and journalist Alain Elkann's latest book, Racconti (Bompiani 2014), in conversation with the author.

The volume collects short stories written and published across forty years together with four previously unpublished American stories. As evident from an interview with journalist Paola De Carolis (IoDonna 9/26/2014) "This new book, Racconti, [...] is of great importance to him. 'This is my biography as a writer,' he says". And he adds that "With a story, the writer is a poet in prose, in a certain sense. With this book, I want to defend the short story".
