Italian Studies celebrates Romeo Castellucci

The Center for Italian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, together with the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Department of Music, and the Cinema Studies Program, sponsors two academic events (November 20 and 21) devoted to one of the world's most renowned experimental theater and opera director, Romeo Castellucci.

The focus will be on his works for musical theater. Please see details here. Dr. Piersandra Di Matteo, Castellucci's dramaturg and one of the leading performance theorists in Italy, will participate in the events and will guest-visit the doctoral seminar ITAL540. Castellucci's works have been presented in Philadelphia by Fringe Arts, which has pioneered in the United States the performances by his company, Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio.
